| Tea Bowl, New Hall, hybrid hard paste porcelain, c.1795 |
|
This tea bowl is painted with the popular New Hall pattern 195. The swagged 'knitting wool' border originally represented wealth and fortune on the Chinese export wares that influenced this type of decoration. Condition: Good - no damage or restoration, just a little kiln dust. The enamel floral decoration is very prettily painted. Dimensions: Height just under 2" (5cm) New Hall & Its Imitators, David Holgate, Faber, (1971). New Hall Porcelains, Geoffrey A. Godden, Antique Collectors' Club (2004). |
