Coffee cup, hybrid hard paste porcelain, Coalport, c.1800

This spiral-fluted coffee cup, with its typical inner spur to the handle, was made by John or Thomas Rose in Shropshire in around 1800.

The exterior is delicately painted with floral sprigs, including a rose and harebells. The interior is a painted with a geometrical band, beneath which is an undulating dotted line scattered with sprigs.

Typically unmarked.

Condition: Good - the colourful enamels are clear and bright, and there is no damage or restoration. This is a nice example of late Caughley/early Coalport hybrid hard paste porcelain and would make an attractive addition to any collection of English porcelain.

Dimensions: Height 2 3/8" (6cm)
