| Coffee cup, Caughley, soapstone body, c.1785 |
| This Caughley coffee cup is printed with the Pagoda pattern.
The moulded edge, fluting and handle are all rather attractive elements, and the printed design is crisp and clear.
The base bears the printed 'So' mark. Condition: Fine - no cracks or restoration, although the foot may have been ground slightly and there are minute patches of fritting to the rim, elements that could date from manufacture. Dimensions: Height 2 3/8" (6cm) (Geoffrey A. Godden, Godden's Guide to Blue and White Porcelain, Antique Collectors' Club, 2004). |
