Coffee cup, Bow, soft paste porcelain, c.1755

 

Painted with an underglaze blue design of a fence and rocks issuing flowers and leaves, this fine Bow coffee cup dates from c.1755.

The handle is of a double scroll shape. The painted design blurred slightly during firing, and the glaze has a pale bluish tone.

Provenance: The Frank Wheeldon Collection.

Condition: Excellent - no chips, cracks, or restoration.

This cup would make an attractive addition to any collection of early English porcelain.
