Coffee cup, Worcester, soft paste porcelain, c.1770

This coffee cup is finely painted with the so-called Conjurer pattern. The main design shows a well-dressed seated mandarin and lady beside a table, apparently bemused by the elderly man, or 'conjurer', who brings them a spray of flowers. The inside rim is decorated in underglaze blue with a 'bubble' border.

Grooved handle. Unmarked.

Condition: Small chip to the rim, and a couple of tiny chips to the footrim. Enamels in good order. Slight wear to the gilt line rim. No cracks or restoration.

Dimensions: Height 2 1/2" (6.4cm)
