Teapot Stand, hybrid hard paste porcelain, Keeling, c.1795

This spiral-fluted Keeling teapot stand is painted with the A. & E. Keeling (Factory X) pattern 126.

It has a good clear glaze, except for the flat part of the base which is unglazed. The shape of the stand would almost certainly be for use with a small, spiral-fluted teapot of the 1790s.

A central rose spray is surrounded by a border of 'barbed wire' with flower and leaf sprigs. The outer border is of a mauve undulating ribbon with rose and leaf sprigs. The New Hall version of this popular pattern is number 186.

Typically unmarked.

Condition: Good - the colourful enamels show only minor wear from use, and there are no chips, cracks or areas of restoration. This is a nice early example of Keeling hybrid hard paste porcelain and would make an attractive addition to any collection of English porcelain.

Dimensions: Length 6 1/2" (16.5cm)
