Coffee Can, New Hall, hard paste porcelain, c.1800

This New Hall coffee can is decorated with pattern 639. An underglaze blue band is overgilt with thin leaves and small husks. A thin gold husk line is painted above and below this band. The handle is decorated with a single gilt line. The artist had touched the cup with his paintbrush when applying the blue band, and this has subsequently been fired beneath the glaze.

The pattern is illustrated in Pat Preller's New Hall Pattern Book.

Condition: Excellent - no chips, cracks or restoration. There is very little wear to the decoration.

Dimensions: Height 2 1/2" (6.3cm)
