| Strawberry Dish, First Period Worcester, soft paste porcelain, c.1775 |
|
This Worcester strawberry dish is decorated with the Pine Cone Group pattern. This attractive pattern can be seen on a range of thrown, turned, jolleyed, and press-moulded shapes produced between the years 1770-85. The example shown here is a pierced and moulded dessert dish intended for serving strawberries. Caughley and Lowestoft used a similar version of this pattern. Condition: Excellent - no chips, cracks or restoration. The print itself is of high quality and finely detailed. Dimensions: Diameter 7 3/4" (19.7cm); Height 1 3/4" (4.4cm) (Branyan, French & Sandon, II.C.11, Worcester Blue and White Porcelain 1751-1790, Barrie & Jenkins, 1989). |
