Coffee cup, Flight Period Worcester, soft paste porcelain, c.1790

 

This attractive spiral fluted coffee cup is decorated with gilt sprigs in a manner typical of teawares produced at Worcester during the Flight period (1783-92). The handle is painted with a gilt foliate design.

Condition: Fair - no cracks or restoration. The gilt-lined rim has some wear to the high points, although the overall quality of the gilding is very good. There is a small flat chip to the side of the footrim.
