| Pair of Lobed Dishes, First Period Worcester, soft paste porcelain, c.1770 |
This exquisite pair of lobed circular dishes are painted in rich enamel colours with European flower sprays, contained within ornate gilt reserves, and set on a blue scale ground. The quality of the painting is particularly fine, with naturalistic violas and roses, all represented in beautiful, fresh enamels. The lavish gilt decoration is also of an unworn, high standard. Both dishes are marked on the reverse with an open crescent painted in blue. Condition: Excellent - no cracks or restoration, just a tiny frit-like blemish to the edge of one dish. Dimensions: Diameter 8 1/2" (21.6cm) |
