| Spiral Fluted Saucer, New Hall, hardpaste porcelain, c.1787-90 |
This delightful spiral fluted saucer is decorated in enamel over the glaze with pattern No. 195 (the 'knitting' pattern). This pattern consists of a central floral spray of roses painted in puce and magenta, surrounded by four smaller sprays, each of a different flower. The border is of swags and sprigs linked by an iron-red squiggle, resembling unravelling wool. Condition: Very Good - no chips, cracks or restoration. The enamels are fresh and bright, and the saucer shows only minimal signs of wear to a very few of the raised fluted edges. Dimensions: Diameter 5 1/2" (13.9cm); Height 1 1/4" (3.2cm) |
